Questions
- Will it work with my car?
- Every gas car and light truck sold in the US since 1996 (and diesels since 2008) has an OBD2 port. Hybrids and EVs report fewer codes.
- Do I need to pair it in Bluetooth settings?
- No. Open honest.repair/car/scan (or the app on iPhone) and tap connect.
- Can I leave it plugged in?
- It sleeps when the car is off, but if your car will sit for more than a week, unplug it to protect the battery.
- Can it clear my check engine light?
- Yes, but only after a repair. Clearing codes erases data your mechanic and the smog check need, and the light comes back if the problem is real.
